Interview with Prof. Dr. Markwart Kunz

Prof. Dr. Markwart Kunz studied chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig and received his doctorate there in 1977. After joining Südzucker AG in 1978, he initially worked as a production engineer and later took on management roles in research and development. From 1992, he was responsible for the central research, development and services department and, from 1997, also for the sugar and special products division. 

In 2003, he was appointed to the executive board of Südzucker AG, where he headed the production, technology, research and development, as well as purchasing departments and was also responsible for the functional food and bioethanol divisions. In addition to his work on the executive board, he was involved in expert committees and associations in the sugar and bioethanol industry. He stepped down from the executive board in 2013 but remained active in various supervisory board functions within the Südzucker Group.
