Interview with Dr. Thomas Kirchberg

Dr. Thomas Kirchberg studied agriculture and already focused on sugar beets in his doctoral thesis. In 1989, he began his career at Südzucker during a period of transition shortly after the merger of Frankenzucker and Süddeutsche Zucker AG. He initially assumed regional responsibility in Ochsenfurt and later played a key role in the expansion in Eastern Europe, particularly in the establishment of Südzucker Polska and Südzucker Moldova. 

From 2007, he was a member of the executive board of Südzucker AG, where his responsibilities included raw materials, production, research, and later also human resources. He also played a central role in the development of CropEnergies. After more than 33 years at Südzucker, he retired from active professional life in 2022.
