Interview with Dr. Stefan Streng

Dr. Stefan Streng comes from the Ochsenfurt region and is the fourth generation to run the Aspachhof family farming business in Uffenheim. After studying agricultural sciences at the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan and obtaining a doctorate in resistance genetics and plant breeding, he began working as a plant breeder in 1999 at the family business Saatzucht Streng-Engelen GmbH & Co. KG, where he has been managing partner since 2007. 

In 2013, he joined the Association of Franconian Sugar Beet Growers and took over as its chairman in 2017. This is linked to his membership on the board of the Association of South German Sugar Beet Growers, of which he is now chairman. He also holds leading positions within German plant breeding organizations, as chairman of IG Pflanzenzucht GmbH and as a member of the board of the German Plant Breeders' Association. 

He has been a member of the supervisory board of Südzucker AG since 2017 and has held the position of chairman of the supervisory board since 2022. In this role, he supports the strategic development of the group, is particularly committed to a close partnership between sugar beet growers and Südzucker, and advocates a corporate strategy that focuses equally on stability, sustainability, and innovation.
