At its meeting today, the supervisory board of Südzucker AG appointed future AGRANA-CEO Markus Mühleisen (54) to the executive board for a period of three years with effect from 1 June 2021. Mühleisen will be responsible for the Sugar (AGRANA), Starch (AGRANA) and Fruit Divisions. He succeeds Johann Marihart (70) as a member of the executive board and representative of AGRANA Beteiligungs-AG, who will retire from the Südzucker executive board on 31 May 2021 after 27 years.

"With the appointment of Mr. Mühleisen to Südzucker`s executive board, we now have another internationally experienced manager on board, and we are also continuing our long-standing executive board interlocking between Südzucker and AGRANA. He will complement the executive board to successfully drive forward the measures for profitable growth anchored in our strategy 2026 PLUS. At the core of the strategy is the transformation of the group from a large-scale processor of agricultural raw materials to a leading partner for plant-based solutions for an enjoyable, healthy and sustainable world," says supervisory board chairman Dr Hans-Jörg Gebhard about the succession.

Marihart will also leave the executive board of AGRANA on 31 May 2021 and retire. Südzucker's supervisory board members thank him for his many years of successful work in his dual function, which has enabled the two companies to work together and develop as partners.

His successor Mühleisen has been working in the food and beverage sector for over 20 years, including at Nestlé, General Mills and, since 2018, at the international dairy group Arla Foods as Group Vice President.
